Sharp Sighter

About Us

Steve & Sam

Steve and Sam met in the 1970s when they shared a geometry class with the legendary Fr. Welch.   It was there that they first learned the ballistic math of calculating elevation angle: “The rise over the run.“ They reconnected 45 years later with a shared passion for long range shooting.  It was then that they discovered a need to measure boresight accurately, and they invented the Sharp-SighterTM measurement tool.  Recognizing that it was the best solution possible, they patented the design and began efforts to commercialize the technology.

Sam experienced the loss of both his hands as a youth.  Not to be limited, in nearly any manner, he began designing his own custom purposed prosthetics.  By wearing his designs Sam become the first double amputee (upper body extremity) to be licensed as both motorcycle operator and CDL owner-operator in the commercial trucking industry.  He has also worked as a machinist for a major firearms manufacturer where he machined precision firearm components.  Sam has also designed custom prosthetics so that he can operate multiple handguns, and drive his Harley Davidson Night Rod special.

Steve went on to earn a PhD in Optical Physics.  He has worked in the fields of optics, lasers, and metrology since 1980.  Since then, Steve has delivered optical and precision optical measurement solutions to the semiconductor, military, aerospace, biomedical industries, to name a few.  In the early 90s, he worked for the Air Force with a team shooting lasers between planes all over the globe including the DMZ in Korea.
